Wildfires

North San Diego County is on fire. We can call these wildfires now, right? I really hope none of you were affected! I haven’t been evacuated yet, but very close. Here are a few pictures I took from my house yesterday evening…

Then the smoke started getting super dark and thick. And spreading fast.

Fire is horrible and devastating. But makes for very pretty sunsets.

I labeled this really grainy picture for you. Wasn’t that nice of me? So I was standing outside with neighbors, checking out the new flair ups on the left that were crazy bright. We kept noticing more glowing behind the mountain, then seeing flames. I saw a glowing thing on the right, and realized…it was the moon rising! It was really beautiful (unlike the zoom in my phone here).

I went to bed last night still wondering if our neighborhood needed to evacuate. The evacuation cut off was across the street. It wasn’t smoky around us, so I slept with the window open so I could hear if people evacuating. In the morning I looked out my window and decided it was safe to go to work. My important things are all packed and ready to go, just in case. I’d have to race home to pick up the kitties anyway!

Not too bad, right? At least not as bad as last night. Homes were destroyed in some of the other fires in North County, and some were here, too. I could see homes burning from here, it was really sad to watch. I hope all of you are safe out there! Let’s hope this is the worst of fire season this year.

This makes me so sad. I used to live in San Diego so for some reason I feel like I feel for the people affected even more. Hope the fires are put out soon!

Yeah, the whole thing is pretty awful. Thank you for being extra concerned :) Once a San Diegan, always a San Diegan!
