YOU GUYS! I just signed up for trapeze classes. I did it. Committed. I have six classes paid for. Not scheduled yet. I was too excited, had to tell you about it first.
My dream has been to be a trapeze artist for as long as I can remember. I made my dad put up a trapeze in the tree in his back yard instead of a swing, like a normal kid would. There’s a picture of me floating around out there of me doing a routine on my static trapeze in my Flashdance-esque shirt and leotard. I thought I was so good. I spent hours upon hours outside by myself, pretending I was in a circus, making up routines, wondering if I swung higher hanging by my knees, would I fall and crack my head open on the cement this time? Yeah…I did this all over cement. And had no clue what I was doing.
This is it, guys. My dreams. About to come to fruition. Who says dreams don’t come true? Who knows, next time you see me, I may be living in Vegas swinging in a Cirque du Soleil show. Stranger things have happened.
I’ll be sure to fill you in on all trapezist details after each class. But beforehand…I need to train! I have a pull up bar at my house, and I regularly do handstand pushups to strengthen my upper body. Sarah, a real life aerialist / circus freak has some awesome exercises to build up your body for such a feat as this. Check it out. I’ve been stealing her exercises. Because she wants me to, I’m pretty sure of it. Right now I can’t even touch my toes. I need to get a daily routine of stretching and working out for sure.
Look out circus world, here come me and my sequined hot pants!
